Authorised fuels

Fuels are authorised separately in the different countries of the UK as follows:

In England these are exempted by publication of this list by the Secretary of State in accordance with changes made to sections 20 and 21 of the Clean Air Act 1993 by section 15 of the Deregulation Act 2015.

In Scotland these are exempt by publication of this list by Scottish Ministers in accordance with changes made to sections 20 and 21 of the Clean Air Act 1993 by section 50 of the Regulatory Reform (Scotland) Act 2014.

In Northern Ireland these are exempt by publication of this list by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in accordance with changes made to Article 17(7) of the Clean Air (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 by section 16 of the Environmental Better Regulation Act (Northern Ireland) 2016.

In Wales these are exempted by regulations made by Welsh Ministers.

Advice: there are safety risks from incorrect storage of fuels. All users should check with their supplier how to store fuel safely.
